brutal.books is a collective of independent art books, featuring self-published artists, photographers and designers from New York City, Philadelphia, Salt Lake City, San Francisco, Madrid and around the globe.

All works center around the abstraction and dichotomy of analog origins within a digital landscape, an ongoing conversation of the industrial amongst the personal.

We aim to contrast and call to attention our current reliance on artificial intelligence, as a source of production and information, refocusing on autonomous artist origins and the physical and collective third spaces in which books are produced, shared and discovered.
